Music Video by the greatest mexican singer, It was written by Fred Edd/John Kander.José Romulo Sosa Ortíz (born on February 17, 1948). he's known in the music as José José or El príncipe de la Canción (The Prince of Song).José José was born into a family of singers: his father was a gospel singer and his mother an opera singer. They did not achieve success, however, and, when José began to show interest in singing, his parents tried to discourage him, by claiming that it was difficult to make it in the show business. José José continued trying to become a singer, and, by his teens, he had launched his own career. José was a struggling singer at first. But then, during the late 60's, his fame began to increase, especially in Mexico, where he was featured on tv various times.During the 70's, José José became one of the most known balladists in Latin America, despite competing with such other Hispanic singing legends as Nino Bravo, Alberto Cortés, Julio Iglesias, Danny Rivera, José Luis Rodríguez and Camilo Sesto. José José made various international #1 hits, and he toured Latin America various times. His songs included "Lo Dudo" ("I Doubt It"), a romantic song about a relationship that had stopped. During the 80's, he and José Feliciano joined to produce what became a major hit for both singers: "Por Ella" ("For Her") told the tale of two friends who fell in love with the same girl, being then left heartbroken by the girl, which made them turn into alcoholics.By the time the song's video was released, José had already begun a real life battle against alcohol. In 1992, he produced another major hit, "40 y 20" ("Forty and Twenty"), which spoke about men who fall in love with women that are much younger than them and the way society sees these situations. He would suffer dire consequences from his problem with alcoholism, as his health faltered dearly during the 90's. His excessive drinking caused his voice to deteriorate and could no longer perform voice properly as he could before. Alcoholism was also one of the major factors for his divorce from his first wife. He went to Alcoholics Anonymous, however, and claims to be cured. He re-married, and, in 1996, he was awarded a special concession by the Mexican government. The Mexican government deemed him deserving of this award based on the cultural impact they think José José had on the country.

Saludos cordiales. Raphael es un maestro.

His voice was not destroyed because of the alcohol. He develop a cyst in his vocal cords and because his diabetes the doctors don't want to take the risk of surgery, if he could have the surgery ever there's no warranty that the vocal cords will function normal.
