He's 17 years old. And usless you've been a 17year old KID with an alcoholic mother then you really can't say anything on the subject. I can because I've been in Sal's situation. Being 17 and having a sick mom is an awful thing to go through.

Marie needs to quit living in the past. If she could let go of her dead husband, she would be able to stop the drinking. I know how hard it must be, but she'll never make it unless she lives in the present.

but she essentially abandoned him...I do believe he doesn't really care about her. I just see why he is hurt and angry, and think its sad. I know all the children are suffering. But the sisters weren't abandoned by their mother like he was.
